Over my head

Last weekend reminded me that having a good support system is extremely important for your health. I am trying to write here as often as possible but who are we kidding, at this age, blog comes last and one thing that I noticed is, I easily forget what I feel since I rarely write things.

Here it goes; last Friday, we celebrated August, September & October babies in one go because gathering everyone in one place is not an easy thing but bless Whatsapp for making it easier for people to keep in touch. Initially, it was supposed to be a small group thing but the crowd went from 8 to 17 real quick and it was nice to see everyone.

Our celebration ended around 10.30PM but some of us decided to continue our little party at Arope’s. Since we had a long table, we separated our conversations into three groups. I think the thing that really got me was my conversation with Hakim & Arope. I always thought I was alone in a lot of things, especially back then. I thought I had no one when I went through it all alone but he reminded me of the time when both of us hit rock bottom, we were there for each other. Like literally there, both of us would check on each other to see if we were fine.

We talked about regrets, too.

Which I strongly believe that everyone has their own regrets; I don’t believe there’s not a single person in this world that doesn’t have any regrets and I still hope to god sometimes that I could take it back because it is not fun when you can’t make peace with your past. It’s something I should’ve let go a long time ago but sometimes when you can’t, you just can’t.

But all in all, I am grateful to have such a strong support system throughout my whole life. I have always been lucky when it comes to this because my issues tend to be overrun but I have loved ones that are so patient and caring. I tend to overlook these things sometimes because I get too caught up with my own problems and I only realize it when it’s too late.

To the friends that were there for me during my hard times, thank you.

To those who I have not kept in touch for quite some time, I am truly sorry.

To those who are still trying to power through, we are going to get through this together.

Tokyo: Hama-Rikyu Gardens, Sen-soji Temple & Ueno Park

Can’t believe it’s been a month since my last update (I keep on saying this) and I wanted to update my Tokyo trip part by part but who am I kidding, I sometimes even forget that I have a blog. I forgot some of the places that we went because we did not follow our itinerary since we over-estimated our stamina (especially me).

We stayed for 8 nights in Tokyo and our house was located nearby Asakusa Mitsuke (Ginza Line), Akasaka (JR Line) station, Family Mart and few convenience stores. One thing that I absolutely love about Tokyo is their vending machines! Not sure how much Echo spent for vending machine drinks but where can I find Calpis Soda here!

Hama-rikyu Gardens

If you can’t stand the already hustle and bustle city, you can opt for Hama-Rikyu Gardens since it’s probably one of a peaceful spot in the city. I choose Hama-Rikyu over Ueno any day albeit there’s small fee to pay, this garden is well-kept, not that crowded and it is picturesque in every corner. If you’re lucky, you can even see sakura, everywhere.

Hama-Rikyu graced us with their blossomed sakura on my birthday! You can find below for some of my behind the scenes photos ;p

The thing I love about Spring is, doesn’t matter what picture you take, it will always end up looking breathtakingly beautiful.

Tip: If you’re nice to their workers, they will tell you the best place to take pictures.

Sensoji Shrine

Tokyo is famous for its shrines and their famous ones would be Meiji & Sensoji. At first we were supposed to go for Meiji but Echo convinced us that Sensoji would be better and it was. We went there twice, at two different timings and I would recommend to do it too because at night, Sensoji is in all its glory.

The shrine closes at 5PM and you can’t really do anything much after that but some of the shops there close quite late and if you are looking for the famous Naritaya Halal Ramen Shop, it’s just somewhere behind the shrine. Please don’t come with an empty stomach because the line can be quite long and if possible, avoid coming in if you’re in a big group because the place is small.

I’d recommend photography enthusiasts to go there at night because the shop alley looks beautiful at night!

Tip: Try to go at day & night if you are about that photography life, avoid buying souvenirs at the shops because it’s quite pricey there and don’t forget to try the mochi!

Ueno Park

One thing I wish I could’ve done properly in Tokyo is, explore the park’s every nook and cranny. We wanted to spend a good half day there but the park is huge, you need to have walking patience. We only managed to visit the zoo before our legs gave up. Even the zoo itself was huge.

This park is not kidding with their cherry blossom. It. was. everywhere. My inner non-four-season-Malaysian was excited. I took pictures of every cherry blossom tree that I could find. Major tourist, right here.

To be honest, I did not take a lot of pictures here because it was, just okay for me but I did find Farfetch’d there. For those who want to come to Tokyo for cherry blossom, Ueno Park should be at the top of your list because you can have a picnic there and if you are lucky, you can watch some street shows too! I wish I could write more about Ueno Park but it was just okay for me, my heart is still with Hama-Rikyu Gardens.

That’s all for now! DisneySea will have its own post, because come on… It’s DisneySea!

9; Bridal Shower

My surprise bridal shower was held last Saturday at Sugar Rush cafe and it was a funny one, because my bridesmaids had so many problems getting me out of the house to take my dress from my house (since they were worried that I might show up wearing t-shirt, jeans and sneakers) but Fiza was sneaky enough to ask me to accompany her wedding meeting and coffee session after that. She even asked me to wear make-up but I did not pickup on that.

The set up was amaze-balls! They told me that they were planning a hipster themed wedding but one of them said that I am a bit too hipster, everyday.. So it will defeat the purpose. So they went with a girly-Lana Del Rey themed bridal shower, which I absolutely loved!

To my bridesmaids; Thank you for organizing/planning this awesome bridal shower for me eventhough everyone has their own things to do. I had so much fun and I did not expect one bit of it even though some of you blurted out some things by accident but I guess wedding planning made my brain a bit slow (er than usual). See everyone on the 17th.

Love,

Emozilla.

37

Just 37 days left before the big day.

I still cannot believe that I am marrying the guy I saw at Farah’s surprise birthday. I was talking to my friend about all of us getting married soon and one of them still can’t believe my big day is coming up since she remembers what I said two years go..

“Pretty sure I am one of the last to get married… maybe when I am thirty”

Ha-ha.

I still have a lot of things to do before the big day but…. I am procrastinating. Anyways, our photographer just gave us our pre-wedding photos. Super happy with the result! We wanted (well, me) color powder theme pre-wed photos since he missed out last two year’s Color Run. At first, I tried to make my own color powder but the powder turned out to be very dry and the color did not stick to my clothes that well. I started searching high and low for the original holi colors and found it in Brickfields.

The color did not just stick to my clothes really well, our tops ended up in the trash after the 6th time trying to wash off the color. But hey, after seeing all of the pics.. all worth it.

I turned 24.

This post has been long overdue but since I have decided to relieve my uni days by staying up on a Friday night, I thought I should write about my birthday celebration. Celebrations.

I turned 24 few weeks ago. A month ago, to be exact and I had the best birthday. I did not expect to have so many celebrations because I told underscoresuff just few weeks before my birthday that I just want a low-key, game night thing because I am just too old for a night out.

Since my birthday was on Thursday, I took two days off so that I could have a long birthday weekend and he took a day off on my birthday so that he could spend the day with me. After asking him so many times where was he bringing me, I gave up. I decided to go ahead with his plans and let him have his ‘fun’ even though I was quite nervous. We went to Samira by Asian Terrace, a Thai restaurant by the lake.

The food there was delicious but I did not manage to take any pictures because both of us were famished when we arrived but after we had lunch, he surprised me with a birthday brownie that he had baked earlier, complete with birthday candles.

Right before we went for karaoke, he asked me to open up his car boot to check out my birthday present and to my surprise, he got me a pair of Nike Air Max 1 that I have been eyeing for quite sometime.

I thought the night was over but before I went back, he gave me another present.

You win. Every single day.
