My surprise bridal shower was held last Saturday at Sugar Rush cafe and it was a funny one, because my bridesmaids had so many problems getting me out of the house to take my dress from my house (since they were worried that I might show up wearing t-shirt, jeans and sneakers) but Fiza was sneaky enough to ask me to accompany her wedding meeting and coffee session after that. She even asked me to wear make-up but I did not pickup on that.
The set up was amaze-balls! They told me that they were planning a hipster themed wedding but one of them said that I am a bit too hipster, everyday.. So it will defeat the purpose. So they went with a girly-Lana Del Rey themed bridal shower, which I absolutely loved!
To my bridesmaids; Thank you for organizing/planning this awesome bridal shower for me eventhough everyone has their own things to do. I had so much fun and I did not expect one bit of it even though some of you blurted out some things by accident but I guess wedding planning made my brain a bit slow (er than usual). See everyone on the 17th.
I still cannot believe that I am marrying the guy I saw at Farah’s surprise birthday. I was talking to my friend about all of us getting married soon and one of them still can’t believe my big day is coming up since she remembers what I said two years go..
“Pretty sure I am one of the last to get married… maybe when I am thirty”
I still have a lot of things to do before the big day but…. I am procrastinating. Anyways, our photographer just gave us our pre-wedding photos. Super happy with the result! We wanted (well, me) color powder theme pre-wed photos since he missed out last two year’s Color Run. At first, I tried to make my own color powder but the powder turned out to be very dry and the color did not stick to my clothes that well. I started searching high and low for the original holi colors and found it in Brickfields.
The color did not just stick to my clothes really well, our tops ended up in the trash after the 6th time trying to wash off the color. But hey, after seeing all of the pics.. all worth it.
For December, I can pretty much say that all of my weekends are filled with weddings and for this week. If I wasn’t attending wedding, I would be chilling at home or finding a new coffee place to order my tea (because boy’s a big coffee drinker). Anyways, this week I witnessed one of my girls tied the knot with her long time boyfriend. The solemnization was simple, and everything sailed smoothly. Even during the akad, it went really smooth til I did not even get the chance to record Khalid’s akad.
I was given the honor to bake both of their hantaran cakes which stressed the heck out of me because Bee’s cake decided to fall apart just seven hours before her wedding and I had three hours to bake, redesign (since the old one didn’t work) and decorate but with my mother’s help, I managed to get some sleep in between, too!
Anyways, _Suff and I decided to go for our n-th food hunting and ended up at Kulcats Barrio Cafe because I wanted solid food for lunch and rice wasn’t the answer. I suck at explaining how the food tasted like but I am currently hooked to it. If I stayed near by, I would be having lunch & dinner daily there because the chicken was too good and I had a hard time sharing even though I caught my fork in his plate a few times.
I have always loved weddings, especially when it involves the people I love and this week, I witnessed my cousin tied the knot with her long time boyfriend at the house both of us grew up in. Families from Johor and Pahang came down to witness the beautiful solemnization and I had the honor of becoming Maira’s Maid of Honor.
I don’t want to write a lengthy post about how much I will miss our morning jogs, random visits and probably weird laughs but I want to wish all the good things that Allah can offer to the both of you beautiful souls. To Maira and Zaki, this is just the beginning of a beautiful journey and I hope, you will beat the storm, the rain, the crazy weather together. Remind yourselves of how much both of you love each other when both of you are having a bad day. You guys have gone through so many things together and I know you will take care of each other and love one another, til Jannah.
